Let Virtue Garnish Every Thought
By J. Brad Chapman

Let virtue garnish every thought, let
purity prevail,
Then the Spirit will abide, His prompts
will never fail.
And like the roaming flock of sheep that
wonder to and fro,
We
need the watchful Shepherd to guide us where we go.
Let virtue garnish every thought, let
purity prevail,
The Spirit then, will dwell within, the
still small voice avail.
And like the sage, ol’ mountain guide that
leads oe’r hill and dell,
He’ll guide us past the deep crevasse and
to the summit trail.
Let virtue garnish every thought, let
purity prevail,
The Spirit then will set our course, and
fill our billowed sail.
And if life’s sea is tempest-tossed and
winds begin to blow,
The Comforter will still the sea and peace
and calm bestow.
So sing your favorite sacred hymn, recite
your favorite poem,
Keep thoughts and actions focused true, for
idle minds will roam.
Let virtue garnish every thought, let
purity prevail,
Then the Spirit will abide, His prompts
will never fail.
